Social Security Board Donates Vital Medical Equipment to Alexandra Hospital and Community Health Services
Charlestown, Nevis, Wednesday 26th February 2025 – The Christopher & Nevis Social Security Board reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing healthcare services in the Federation with a generous donation to Nevis’ Ministry of Health, Gender Affairs, and Social Empowerment. The handover ceremony held on Monday, February 24, marked the handover of medical equipment and resources for the Alexandra Hospital and Community Health Nursing Services.

Jahnel Nisbett – Minister of Health et al (NIA), Mrs. Mellicia Phillip – Deputy Director (Social Security Board), Carl Claxton (SSB Board Member), Llewellyn Parris (SSB Board Member), Gary Liburd – Snr. Manager (SSB Branch Office) and other representatives from the Ministry of Health et al (Nevis)
The items donated include:
To the Alexandra Hospital:
- 10 Hospital Beds.
For the Dental Unit:
- 1 Dry/Vac suction machine.
- 2 Water Purification Systems.
- 2 Ultrasonic Scalar Units with various handpieces.
Community Health Nursing Services:
- 2 Brewer Examination Beds.
Deputy Director of the Social Security Board, Mrs. Mellicia Phillip, delivered remarks emphasizing Social Security’s ongoing commitment to supporting the health sector. She highlighted that healthcare is a fundamental pillar of national development, and that our collective efforts whether in the public or private sector are essential to ensuring that every citizen receives the highest standard of care.
Also present at the ceremony were the Hon. Jahnel Nisbett, Minister of Health et al for the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), Ms. Shelisa Martin-Clarke, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health et al (NIA) and Mrs. Shinelle Browne, Assistant Hospital Administrator, who all expressed gratitude for the significant contribution.
This donation signifies another milestone in the Social Security Board’s efforts to positively impact the lives of citizens by supporting essential services. The Board remains committed to its mandate of contributing to national development through strategic partnerships and impactful initiatives.
