SOCIAL SECURITY COMPLETES DONATION TO COTTON THOMAS COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL
BASSETERRE ST. KITTS, 13TH OCTOBER 2023 — On Thursday October 12, 2023, the Social Security Board concluded its donation to the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School by providing tables, chairs and toys to complement the Long Room Renovation at the learning institution.
In April 2023, the Health and Wellness Committee, an in-house committee comprised of staff, organized its annual wellness initiatives to encourage wholistic wellness of staff. This year, a component featured a community project to assist with a need that would have lasting impact. The Long Room or the Early Stimulation Center at the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School was identified as the ideal project to meet this objective.
The initial project considered repainting to enhance the room, but upon further assessment, the project expanded to a complete renovation of the room to include painting, replacement of windows, toilets, wash basins and doors amongst others. The enhancements were made during the vacation period.
During a brief handover ceremony at the school, Executive Officer, Ms Valenticia Lindsay handed over furniture including tables and chairs for the freshly renovated learning area. The handover also included early stimuli toys, and playsets amongst others.
Mr Sylvester Dore, Principal, accepted the donations on behalf of the school and thanked Social Security for coming forward to ask how they could be of service to the school. He lauded their efforts and spoke of the impact on the students and overall learning environment.
The Social Security Board wishes to acknowledge its Corporate Partners, TDC Group of Companies and S. L. Horsford & Company Limited for their support and contributions.
Social Security also acknowledges its Maintenance Department led by Mr Diego Walters, the staff and volunteers who gave of their time and expertise to see the project to completion.
Social Security considers its role as a good Corporate Partner an important one and encourages other entities to continue to support the enhancement of our communities through positive engagement.
