Chief Audit Executive
The St. Christopher & Nevis Social Security Board (SSB) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Chief Audit Executive.
About Us:
St. Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis Social Security Fund is a compulsory insurance fund established by an Act of Parliament in 1977. It began operations on February 1, 1978, taking over from the National Provident Fund, which was essentially a retirement savings scheme with limited other benefits.
JOB PURPOSE
The main purpose of this role is to oversee the Internal Audition function, ensuring its effectiveness, and providing assurance on governance, risk management and internal controls. This position involves collaboration with the Audit Committee, senior management, departmental management, external and regulatory auditors and relevant professional organizations.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Strategic Leadership and Governance
- Direct a comprehensive internal audit program with a risk-based approach to support organizational objectives.
- Ensure internal audit operations align with the vision, mission and strategy of the organization, comply with the Internal Audit Charter and the Global Internal Audit Standards and are carried out in a manner that resources are efficiently and effectively employed.
- Lead the development of the annual risk-based internal audit plan, incorporating strategic, IT, fraud and emerging risks.
- Establish audit methodologies and framework to oversee the organization’s systematic review of internal controls.
- Serve as the internal authority on internal controls, keeping abreast of current changes that may affect the organization through personal initiative, seminars, training programs and peer contact.
Audit Planning and Execution
- Develop the annual internal audit plan using input from management and a risk-based methodology.
- Schedule audits, determines necessary resources, and ensures execution of the approved internal audit plan.
- Ensure audit processes and procedures, including issue identification, policy development, evidence review, and documentation are effectively managed.
- Review and approve the engagement audit plan using risk assessment.
- Supervise audit and review the work performed to ensure the adequacy of audit scope, the adequacy of testing performed, and the accuracy of conclusions reached.
- Review and approve detailed audit programs.
- Develop programs for follow-up audit to ensure that management has taken appropriate corrective action as recommended in audit reports.
Staffing and Professional Development
- Direct internal audit staff in planning, organising, and monitoring internal audit operations.
- Promote professional development opportunities, including internal and external training, professional association memberships and knowledgdge-sharing activities.
Reporting and Communications
- Coordinate with and support the Audit Committee Chairperson to plan quarterly Committee meetings.
Risk Management & Advisory Services
- Promote a strong ethical culture and risk-based thinking throughout the organization.
- Advocate for effective governance, risk management and control practices.
APPLICANTS SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification is required.
- A minimum of three to five years of full-time experience in internal audit management.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Strong report-writing skills with the ability to present audit findings clearly and concisely.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Perform at a high level of integrity and credibility.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks to deadlines and perform in a fast-paced environment.
A remuneration package commensurate with qualification and experience will be offered.
