Internal Audit Officer
The St. Christopher & Nevis Social Security Board (SSB) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Internal Audit Officer.
About Us:
St. Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis Social Security Fund is a compulsory insurance fund established by an Act of Parliament in 1977. It began operations on February 1, 1978, taking over from the National Provident Fund, which was essentially a retirement savings scheme with limited other benefits.
JOB PURPOSE
The main purpose of this role is to perform routine to complex internal audit work such as conducting audit engagements and assisting in providing advisory services to management and staff. The role involves working under limited supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgement.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assist in identifying and evaluating the organisation’s risk areas and providing input to the development of the engagement audit plan.
- Perform audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analysing data and evidence and documenting client processes and procedures.
- Conduct interviews, review documents and administer surveys.
- Question the lead auditor when issues/challenges arise with the work approach or the observations.
- Prepare work papers and audit reports for review.
- Identify, develop, and document audit issues and recommendations using independent judgement concerning areas under review.
- Pursue professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships.
- Assist in the development of audit programs and engagement planning.
- Stay informed as to changes in the business.
APPLICANTS SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- A minimum of three to five years of full-time experience in internal or external audit.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and work within deadlines.
- Knowledge of internal controls, risk management and auditing techniques.
A remuneration package commensurate with qualification and experience will be offered.
