SUSANNA LEE HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO NEW INDUCTEES
Eight new students were inducted into the Susanna Lee High School Scholarship Program on Thursday 28th September 2017 during a ceremony held at the E. St John Payne Annex. The scholarship program will benefit the following students from first to fifth form and onto local colleges upon acceptance.
The High School inductees are:

- Princess Simon Washington Archibald High School
- Rhoyanna Warner Basseterre High School
- Rickesia Salters Cayon High School
- Curmarl Stevens Saddlers Secondary School
- Joshornia Edwards Verchilds High School
- Tyiana Williams Charlestown Secondary School
- Devery Lewis Gingerland Secondary School
Meanwhile, six of the eight alumni who have completed CSEC were also on hand to encourage the new inductees by sharing their experiences and successes.

- Shaniah Williams Charlestown Secondary School 10 subjects, 10 distinctions
- Lufkin Foster Verchilds High School 12 subjects, 5 distinctions
Mrs. Jacqueline Brookes Jeffers, Board Director delivered the Welcome Remarks during the ceremony. In her remarks, Mrs. Brookes Jeffers challenged the students to select their courses carefully and make use of the mentors provided to them by Social Security whenever necessary.
Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Sephlin Lawrence during her address shared words of encouragement to the new students of the scholarship program. “Success is no magic wand, but you have the potential to achieve greatness. I am beseeching you to include strong positive values in your life. These should include honesty, integrity, loyalty, obedience and discipline. Social Security will ensure that the sunlight of education reaches you, but the rest is up to you”. The CEO also implored the parents to provide an environment that is conducive to the proper development of their children.
Following the CEO’s remarks, Premier of Nevis and Minister of Social Security, the Hon. Vance Amory addressed the gathering. The Minister also echoed words of encouragement and laid the ultimate responsibility upon the parents/guardians of the new scholars to nurture the investment made possible by Social Security. “Social Security is financing the pathway, the Government is providing the opportunity, but parents, you have the greatest responsibility of seriously showing interest in your children’s education”.
Presentation of certificates to the new inductees were awarded by Ms. Susanna Lee, while Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, the Hon. Shawn K. Richards presented certificates to the alumni who have been accepted by the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College. Further, notable remarks were given by past Alumni, Ms. Azilla Clarke while expressions of appreciation were made by Ms. Tyiana Williams (High School Awardee) and Mr. Tajoroh Williams (Fifth Form Graduate).
The Invocation was delivered by Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Marilyn Johnson, the Vote of Thanks by Social Security Officer, Mrs. Kimmoy Brathwaite while the ceremony was gracefully chaired by Mr. Walwyn Chiverton, Social Security Officer. Mr Aleks Condell, Social Security Officer rendered a saxophone instrumental during the signing of the Comittment Documents.
Since 1983, the Social Security Board has been offering High School Scholarships to students with great potential and whom without the necessary support may not realize their fullest potential. The program has a growing scholarship alumni of 196 students. To date, Social Security has invested over $2 million in the education of our youths.
